You're an expat; what do you miss most about Britain?

The usual things, probably: family and friends; 'proper' tea; your local pub; Marks and Spencer's undies. But the public transport system? Well, you might if you lived in Cyprus.

Cyprus has the highest ratio of cars to population of any country in Europe. Over the last ten years, a network of highways has sprouted up, encouraging even more cars onto the roads. But it will all come to a stop soon unless the government improves public transport, for the EU will grant no further funding for such projects unless, and until, they do.

Public transport in Cyprus is used by a dismal two percent of the people - and no wonder. To call the motley collection of unconnected bus services run with varying degrees of reliability by a network of private operators 'public' transport at all is actually somewhat generous....
