Gruss, CY
Cemetery Clean-up
On the date below a group of volunteers will be meeting to tidy up the Greek Cypriot cemetery in Girne/Kyrenia. The work will primarily involve clearing weeds, removing rubbish and trimming back plants and trees. This effort is inspired by sadness felt at seeing that the cemetery was overgrown and in a less than ideal state. It is intended to be merely a public-spirited exercise, which hopefully will also be enjoyable for those taking part. It will be "bicommunal" in that participants from both Cypriot communities have been invited, as well as expatriates and tourists. It is not intended as any kind of political statement, but it is hoped that it might lead to further voluntary cleanups of cemeteries throughout the island. All nationalities would be most welcome.

If you are intending to take part, an email or text message would be appreciated to give us an idea of numbers.
If you can easily bring basic garden tools with you, that would be useful but is not essential. There will be tools available and plenty for you to do to help. A bottle of water and sun protection would be advisable!
